PASTO: a tribute to land, industry, and the passing of time.
The exhibition marks a meaningful milestone: exactly ten years since the founding of Ries, which also debuted internationally at New York Design Week in 2015. PASTO features a collection of cast aluminum pieces developed through an experimental process using native grasses from the Argentine Pampas as lost molds. The development of this series took over three years of research and production, combining traditional methods, industrial processes, and a deep engagement with the land as material.
Straddling the line between functional object and sculpture, the pieces in PASTO preserve the textures, imprints, and memories of the landscape—transforming ephemeral natural material into lasting forms through fire and metal. The exhibition includes a series of aluminum works, an eight-minute documentary video capturing the full process of harvesting, preparation, and casting, plus a book that expands the conceptual and material research behind the project.
PASTO stands as both a material exploration and a tribute to transformation, craft, and the land itself.
