Pali Xisto Cornelsen and Jejo Cornelsen

Brazilian-American designer Pali Xisto Cornelsen and his father, celebrated artist and polymath Jejo Cornelsen, share a multidisciplinary creative bond that bridges generations and mediums. Jejo, originally trained in architecture in London, rose to prominence in Brazil’s vibrant mid-century creative scene, developing a practice that spans illustration, fine art, and animation. His work—marked by a mastery of vibrant, clay-derived pigments and a unique tropical lens on Pop Art—has been a touchstone for Brazilian visual culture since the 1990s. A revered figure among architects and artists alike, Jejo is known for his intuitive process and deeply personal relationship with color.

Pali, following an equally expansive path, honed his craft in the fashion and interiors worlds, staging visual presentations for Calvin Klein and later developing a distinctive furniture and interior design practice. His work distills minimalism with a refined, referential edge, shaped by years collaborating with figures like Raf Simons. In Conversa, their first joint exhibition, Pali and Jejo unite their respective practices—transforming salvaged tree trunks into sculptural furnishings, and merging live-edge forms with bold, expressive pigmentations. The collaboration highlights the enduring dialogue between father and son: a shared impulse to explore nature, materiality, and memory through intuitive creation.
